About Me
I started working in Photography straight out of High School. I needed a summer job and really had no idea what I wanted to do with myself. I always knew I wanted to work with children, maybe as a teacher or in pediatrics, I just wasn't sure how to get there or where to start. I applied at a children's photo studio and landed the position. I remember thinking, "This job will be a synch!" Boy, was I wrong! Being a photographer means so much more than just pushing a button. It's a work out! Posing a family of 8, with 6 children under the age of 10 definitely made you work off that burger you had at lunch time, but seeing the end result, that's what amazed me every time. Capturing that moment when a baby smiled for the first time, the generation photos with great grandmothers with their daughters and their daughters, seeing the soft side of a newly proud father holding his baby girl; These are the moments that made me fall in love with photography.
As I began to get more involved in photography and learning the ins and outs of the art, I found out that my grandfather, who I never had the opportunity to meet, used to be a photographer. Mom says thats where I get it. She says that when she watches me, it's like seeing him at work again. The attention to detail and the emotion that is captured in the photos. I wish he were here still, I have so many questions and I'm still learning so much, but a lot has changed from then to now. He worked with film and nowadays everything has gone digital. I think it makes things so much easier, but I do believe it can be taken a bit far. I do edit my photos, as far as color correcting, maybe removing the occasional pimple from the middle of the forehead, but I do like to stay true to my photos. I mostly focus on newborn photography so there isn't much to photoshop. All babies, I believe, are perfect the way they are.
